TUNA CONVENTION’S SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE MEETING TO BENEFIT PH TUNA INDUSTRY

The Philippines is currently hosting the 20th Scientific Committee Regular Meeting from August 14 to 21, 2024, in Quezon City. As a member of the subsidiary bodies of the WCPFC, to which the Philippines has been a party since 2005, the Scientific Committee provides optimal scientific information for effective conservation and management, especially on tuna and other migratory fish stocks in the Western and Central Pacific regions. Drusila Esther E. Bayate, the Philippine Head of Delegation, emphasized the importance of the Committee’s work in ensuring the long-term sustainability of valuable marine resources.
