Maldives: Discussion with Turkey to cut tariff on fish exports

Maldives has begun discussions with Turkey to cut tariffs on fish exports. Highlighting the current official state visit of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Turkey, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Mooza Zameer attending the meeting between the President and Turkey's Deputy Minister of Trade Mustafa Tuzcu.

It is important to mention here that Fisheries and Aquaculture plays a pivotal role in the Maldives national economy contributing 78.84% in agricultural GDP (4.18% from fisheries), per capita fish available for consumption 90.5 Kg and Exports of fish and fish products in 2020 was USD 858 399 150 (GLOBEFISH March 2023).
