Sven Rusticus is the Founder and CEO of Seaweedland, a Netherlands-based company pioneering land-based seaweed cultivation systems for the production of high-quality, contamination-free seaweed. Drawing on his background in Systems and Control Engineering from Delft University, Rusticus established Seaweedland in 2022 with the goal of combining technological innovation and sustainability to address future food and environmental challenges.
 
Under his leadership, Seaweedland has developed controlled cultivation systems that enable year-round production of premium seaweed using saltwater, renewable energy and resource-efficient technologies. The company currently supplies fresh seaweed to high-end food markets and is expanding into nutraceutical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. Seaweedland is also scaling its operations through international partnerships and a franchise model aimed at accelerating the global adoption of sustainable seaweed production.
 
A passionate advocate for innovation in aquaculture, Rusticus believes that land-based cultivation will play an increasingly important role in ensuring consistent, safe and reliable supplies of seaweed for a wide range of industries worldwide.
