Stefania Vannuccini is Senior Fishery Officer responsible for fisheries and aquaculture statistics (FishStat) at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). She also serves as Secretary of the Coordinating Working Party on Fishery Statistics (CWP), the leading international and inter-agency forum for developing and harmonising definitions, classifications and standards for the collection of fisheries and aquaculture statistics.
 
An economist specialising in statistics, she has several decades of experience in analysing current and emerging trends in the fisheries and aquaculture sector and its contribution to food security. She has authored and co-authored numerous publications, articles and presentations, and is one of the principal authors and coordinators of the biennial The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA).
 
She is also responsible for fisheries projections and the fisheries chapter published annually in the OECD–FAO Agricultural Outlook, as well as other outlook studies on the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
