Invited Panelist

 

Phaik-Eem Lim is Professor and Executive Director of the Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences, University of Malaya, and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. She is a founding member and current Secretary of the Consortium of Southeast Asian Seaweed Taxonomy (SEASTax) and holds leadership positions in several regional and international scientific organisations. She serves as Vice-President of the Asia Pacific Phycological Association, Council Member of the International Society of Applied Phycology, and member of the Science Council of the Global Seaweed Coalition.

Prof. Lim has been actively engaged in algae research since the 1990s and has authored more than 180 peer-reviewed publications. Her research focuses on advancing seaweed aquaculture to enhance climate resilience and support sustainable industry development. Her areas of expertise include biosecurity, disease and pest management, conservation of genetic resources, and strengthening the socio-economic resilience of seaweed farming communities.
