Ida T. Capacio is currently serving as the Centre Chief of the Bureau of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources – National Seaweed Technology Development Centre (BFAR-NSTDC) based in Cabid-an, Sorsogon City, Philippines. Under her professional leadership, the centre has achieved significant milestones, including the establishment & operation of seaweed production and processing facilities, analytical laboratory, seaweed products display & marketing hub; development & introduction of technologies aimed at producing quality seedstocks, increasing farm productivity, modernising the facilities and achieving quality Raw Dried Seaweeds and seaweed-based products.

She has also supported the development of several seaweed-related policies and in obtaining a TESDA accreditation as the first and only Assessment Center for Seaweed Production – National Certificate II (SP-NC II). Furthermore, she has co-authored several information materials about seaweeds.
