Frozen boiled mussels half shell import, up 7% from the previous year

SOUTH KOREA: In August 2020, the amount of frozen
boiled mussels half shell imported was about 87 tons, down 45 % from 159 tons a year earlier.
The cumulative import volume reached about 1,064 tons in August, up 7 % from about 997 tons in the previous year.
The average August import volume from 2015 to 2020 was about 68 tons, up about 28 % from 87 tons this year.
Of the total imported half shell boiled mussels (1064 tons), 1,047 tons were imported from New Zealand, 14 tons from Vietnam and only 3 from Chile
In August, imports of frozen boiled mussels half shell fell 44 % to about USD 580,000 from USD 1.04 million a year earlier while the average import price in August was USD 6.71/kg, up about 2 % from USD 6.55/kg in the previous year.
