INDONESIA: The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) of Indonesia has today announced the 2nd Bali Tuna Conference (BTC) and the 5th International Coastal Tuna Business Forum (ICTBF) will be combined into a special conference programme in 2016, taking place at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel, Bali, Indonesia on 19-20th May.
 
Supported by the International Pole & Line Foundation (IPNLF), delegates can look forward to important commercial topics including international market opportunities and access requirements, human rights and social issues, as well as updates on the progress of the National Plan of Action for Tuna, Skipjack and Neritic Tuna. At the same time, top-level speakers will update regional stakeholders on new regulations, policies and performance.

FDA issues import alert on imported shrimp from Malaysia

UNITED STATES :The FDA’s District Offices may detain, without physical examination, imports of shrimp and prawns from peninsular Malaysia due to testing that found that approximately one-third of imports from peninsular Malaysia contained residues of nitrofurans and/or chloramphenicol.

Skipjack tuna maintains MSC certificate, but yellowfin loses it

MALDIVES : A recent independent audit determined that the Maldives pole and line skipjack tuna fishery meets the requirements to maintain its Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certificate. But the yellowfin tuna fishery has been suspended the certification since April 15 this year.
