THAILAND:Thai frozen food business operators have denied allegations by the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry that they have been illegally importing fresh shrimp from Indonesia.
INDIA : It is likely that India’s total seafood exports decline 10 per cent-20 per cent this year due to the impact of a lower shrimp production.
Representatives of the sector explain the decline in production has been attributed to a spread of non-viral disease, a situation that was favoured by inadequate rainfall, Economic Times reported.
The 29th session of the Technical Advisory Board Meeting of INFOFISH was held at the Wisma LKIM, Jalan Desaria, Pulau Meranti, Puchong 47120, Selangor Darul Ehsan on 7-9 October 2015. Representatives of 7 member countries (Cambodia, Fiji, Maldives, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia) attended the meeting. The meeting programme included a field trip on 8 October to Department of Fisheries at Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
AUSTRALIA: Indonesian and Australian authorities have signed an agreement to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and to promote sustainable fisheries governance across the region.
FIJI:Fish consumption among Fiji's coastal communities are as high as 113kg per person per year, the Fisheries Ministry has revealed.
