The project includes four floating cages, the training of more than 100 people with floating cage technology and the organization of two groups of fishermen in the area to improve their management capacity.

Investment in this initiative is HNL 15 million (USD 627,700), of which Taiwan contributed HNL 13 million and the Government of Honduras provided the remaining HNL 2 million.

The Honduran government intends to achieve a production of 180 tonnes of tilapia annually, and with this project it seeks to improve the competitiveness and productive capacity of fishermen in the area to improve their income in coexistence with the environment and local inhabitants.
